The Gran Premio Automobilistico di San Remo, commonly known as the San Remo Grand Prix, was a Grand Prix / Formula One and motorcycle race held in the north-western coastal town of San Remo (Italy) from 1937 to 1972.

The first Grand Prix was held in 1937 on a street circuit in the town of San Remo, known as the San Remo Circuit (Circuito di San Remo, official name: Circuita Stracittadino di San Remo) and from 1947 to 1972 on the Ospedaletti street circuit.

The first non-championship San Remo GP was held in 1937 for Voiturette class racing. Maserati was the dominant manufacturer entering 4CM and 6CM models.

1947 saw the launch of the 2nd version of the Sanremo Grand Prix. It was held for International Sport Cars a major factor why the event was moved from San Remo to the Ospedaletti circuit.

The Ospedaletti circuit was reconfigured from the 2.62km version to a longer 3.38km circuit in 1948 to herald the introduction of the very first appearance of Formula One cars.

The following year in 1948 The Grand Prix, Automobile in San Remo was divided into 3 categories based on engine size for the first time. The quickest 7 cars in each heat progressed through to the final where a wonderful spread of cars including Delahaye, Fiat Volpini, Alfa Monza amongst others were all competing.

Formula One continued to be the premier event until 1951 when Grand Prix motorcycle racing including Sidecar events were held on an annual basis through to 1972.
